The head of the Audit Chamber of the Russian Federation Alexey Kudrin is concerned about the drop in living standards in the Russian Federation and does not exclude “social upheaval”, if poverty continues to grow. He expressed this opinion in the program “Posner” on Channel.
“Of course, I have a concern. In recent years, the standard of living of our citizens declined, now about 12,5 million people below the poverty line, 70% our poorest citizens live in families, mostly children”, – he said, answering the question, whether the head of the Accounting Chamber does not feel fear, that the continuing decline in living standards of citizens of Russia against the background of relatively favorable situation in other countries may lead to “social upheaval”.
According to him, “Poverty in Russia has become a disgrace”, because in a country with a level of GDP per capita, with these ever-increasing salaries, should not be of such poor, especially in families.
“This loss including functional development, in nutrition, quality of life, health, it is a problem of our human capital”, – he said.
Earlier, the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation informed about the possible risks of, that the real incomes of the Russian population 2019 year will continue to fall against the backdrop of lack of government monetary social support plans.
Reduce poverty on 40%
In this regard Kudrin proposes to adopt a number of measures to benefit payments, which will reduce the level of poverty in the 30-40%. “It is our concern, Here it must be done urgently”, – the head of the Accounting Chamber.
In particular, he offered to pay the allowance for the first child for all families, located in the area of poverty. “This decision was made only for those, whose children were born with 2018 of the year, But in fact, this measure should be extended to all”, – said Kudrin.
