The third universal nuclear icebreaker project 22220 “Ural” today launched in St. Petersburg. The solemn ceremony was held at the “Baltic Shipyard”, where there is a building of three icebreakers series.
В церемонии приняли участие вице-премьер Юрий Борисов, генеральный директор госкорпорации “Rosatom” Alexei Likhachev, президент Объединенной судостроительной корпорации Алексей Рахманов, представители администрации Санкт-Петербурга и другие гости.
Перед спуском корпус нового ледокола освятили, после чего об его борт была разбита бутылка крымского шампанского. Спущенный на воду “Ural” встал к достроечной стенке, где будет достраиваться на воде. Срок ввода в строй запланирован на 2022 year.
Universal nuclear icebreaker “Ural” is the second serial and third icebreaker of the project 22220, строящимся для обеспечения круглогодичной навигации по Северному морскому пути. The main power plant of icebreakers includes two reactors “Rhythm-200” thermal power 175 MW each. Its main advantage over other similar installations is compact and economical, as well as energy efficient integral arrangement.
The peculiarity of the project icebreakers 22220 is the use of variable rainfall using ballast tanks. Double-draft ships can operate in deep water, and in shallow water in rivers, breaking ice up to 3 meters thick.
