Recent years, the state of the military-political situation in the region is characterized by the confrontation of Russia, its allies and partners with Western countries led by the US.
the situation, which occurred in Eastern Europe and in the world as a whole can be characterized by the words of President of Belarus: "Unfortunately, I have to agree with the conclusions of the latest report of the Munich Conference on, that our planet came to the brink, behind which there is global conflict. The confrontation was one of the determining factors in the development of international relations ... Today in our region is obvious major political and economic order for escalation. Funnel confrontation draws in all the new countries, turning into a bloc to bloc confrontation. Polyhnet not only Ukraine and Eastern Europe. So far, and to a nuclear conflict between geopolitical players, in which there will be winners ".
This contributes to the, that the Alliance annually increases the intensity of the activities of operational and combat training. The focus is on improving the operational capabilities of NATO forces regrouping in the European and Baltic members of the Alliance, the creation of multinational formations for the purpose of conducting offensive and special operations. Besides, on the territories of neighboring countries at a heightened pace modernized roads and overpasses, infrastructure of military camps, created stocks of armaments and military equipment.
It takes place on the background of the, that the military and political leadership, NATO members, Washington supported the initiative to increase the defense spending of European countries and Canada due to the bringing 2024 , the military budgets of the alliance members to 2 % from SMR.
In these circumstances, our country has pursued a consistent policy of peace. In July 2017 at the opening of the summer session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Minsk on behalf of the Belarusian side proposed the idea of a new Helsinki Process.
Speaking in May last year at the international forum "Eastern Europe: in search of security for all ", President of Belarus noted, that the name of the new document and place of its adoption does not matter, important, that such a dialogue has begun, and it resulted in a real strengthening of international security. Belarus' initiative is not born from scratch. Taking place in recent years, events only confirm the deterioration of the situation in the region and the world at large.
Alexander Lukashenko has again proposed the idea, the so-called, wide comprehensive dialogue, which would be aimed at, to all the conflicting parties to the negotiating table, and instead of, to sort things out on the battlefield, at the negotiating table we would start talking about, how to confront the more pressing global challenges and threats, that exist today. This terrorism, and kiberterrorizm, and trafficking, and international crime, and much more.
The Head of State noted: "Great powers, designed to be a reliable guarantor of stability, today can not reach a consensus on any important issue. One side, they talk about the importance of maintaining a modern security architecture, and on the other - are not abandoned their attempts to circumvent the veto in the UN Security Council ".
Of particular concern is, first of all, the absence of safeguards to prevent a large-scale armed conflict, even unintentional. In the context of global geopolitical and economic transformations accumulate and take an acute form of the world's fundamental contradictions between the states.
In neighboring countries, placed new military bases, there is an expansion of the Alliance to the East. In Poland, Baltics, other states to make decisions about, to further accommodate the US military contingent, Some are even willing to pay for it.
Analyzing past the last six months of combat training of the NATO member countries, the conclusion is clear - NATO countries, despite the stated theme of defensive drills, prepare for offensive combat operations. Against whom - it is quite obvious.
Mutual claims and geopolitical confrontation between East and West, between Russia and the US, America's involvement in the suspension of Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, smoldering and new conflicts, growth accusatory rhetoric against each other causing serious concern all over the world.
Of course, Belarusian side can not bear to watch these processes. therefore, despite, that the official Minsk on all possible platforms and meetings at various levels in favor of the settlement of any conflict exclusively by peaceful means, in the Republic of Belarus is taking steps to maintain the army's defense capability. The priority areas are army building: Optimization of combat and numerical composition and, re-election of troops with modern weapons and military equipment, preservation of human resources and raising the level of staffing of the Armed Forces.
Unfortunately, the political elite of the majority of Eastern European countries, the interests of their countries come to, is not able to independently negotiate, but can only be connected to the decisions of the owners, who care about their fate, that in itself creates prerequisites for the growth of security threats.
