Russian permanent naval group, stationed in the Mediterranean Sea, in January to hold four two-day exercise with missile launches. Relevant international notice for aviation personnel (NOTAM, BUT THERE) posted online, TASS informs.
According to the notification NOTAM, and navigational warnings to mariners, ships of the Russian Navy will participate in practical shooting 9-10, 16-17, 23-24 and 30-31 January. Exercises will be held in international waters in the Mediterranean Sea, just off the coast of Syria. The area of missile firings closed to civil aviation and civil navigation. The coordinates of the area to be closed are provided in the notification.
The Russian Ministry of Defense regularly covers the areas of the Eastern Mediterranean for exercises of the Navy ships constant group in the Mediterranean Sea. The longest period was held in September 2018 of the year, when in connection with the ongoing large-scale exercises of the Navy and naval aviation, Russia closed area of the Eastern Mediterranean off the coast of Syria 8 days. Also, the area was closed several times during a missile strike on the positions of the terrorists groups banned in Russia “Islamic State”.
