Georgian Army was adopted, put French companies Thales Las and MBDA, radar and anti-aircraft short-range system, bmpd reports with reference to the Ministry of Defense of the Republic.
On Monday, everyone could look at the new equipment. On this day at the Alekseevka military base (near Tbilisi) events were held, dedicated to Military Aviation Day.
Contracts for the supply of equipment were signed in 2015 year. Their total cost is more than $100 million. According to the contracts, we supplied: mobile early warning radar Ground Master GM403, two GM200 medium-range mobile radars, mobile air defense command posts, as well as short-range air defense systems MBDA Mistral ATLAS.
The item was purchased on credit. The funds were provided by the French bank Societe General.
The Mistral ATLAS air defense system is made on the chassis of ACMAT VLRA vehicles 2 (4X4) and is a two-charge support launcher (with manual control) for Mistral/ Mistral MANPADS missiles 2, the firing range of which does not exceed 6,5 km.
The release of the Georgian Ministry of Defense states, that the purchased systems are “the best in the world” in their class. They can be used for both support operations, and for the protection of particularly important objects.
