The Russian Defense Ministry is considering the issue of strengthening the air defense divisions (MLP) electronic warfare battalions (EW), write “Notifications” with reference to the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry.
According to plans of the Russian Defense Ministry, part of the air defense divisions will be introduced electronic warfare battalions, adopted which go mobile systems EW “Moscow”, “Krasuha 2” and “Krasuha 4”. Later battalions will be equipped with mobile "Divnomore" system. Such a decision prompted the Ministry of Defense joint study, conducted by the Central Research Institute of troops Aerospace Defense and Research Testing Institute of electronic warfare, which showed a two-fold increase in the efficiency of air and missile defense when dealing with electronic warfare systems.
The findings confirmed the application of this system in Syria, when the attack on the airbase Hmeymim via EW system were drowned out GPS signals drones, after which they were air defenses shot down.
Modern mobile systems EW able to "score" the powerful interference apparatus cruise missiles, UAVs and radar aircraft, which carry out guidance. Disoriented cruise missiles and drones have become easy targets for air defense systems.
As conceived by the military, EW involve battalions to cover the command posts, groups of troops, air defense systems, important industrial and administrative facilities.
