БТР-87 с противотанковым комплексом «Корнет»

According to the newspaper, guided weapons on Russian armored vehicles appeared in 1966 year, when the BMP-1 with the "Baby" complex was launched into mass production. At the same time, neither Soviet, neither foreign designers were in a hurry to equip wheeled armored personnel carriers with missiles. true, there was one exception: during the Warsaw Pact, the Polish SKOT-2AR received ATGM 9M14M for some time, but later this idea was abandoned.

After the collapse of the USSR, the BTR-90 with the BMP-2 fighting compartment became the first wheeled armored vehicle.. Initially, it was equipped with ATGM "Konkurs-M", then received the most modern complex - "Cornet". The machine was put into service., but not serially produced.

"Cornets" are also in the arsenal of the promising K-17 "Boomerang". But if the armored vehicles, built on a medium unified platform, can be denoted by the term "new direction", then the BTR-87 is an evolutionary development of the BTR-80 and BTR-82 armored personnel carriers known in many countries. Its main difference from its predecessors is the front location of the engine compartment and the exit from the stern.

The vehicle is armed with a 30mm cannon, 7,62-mm machine gun and the above-mentioned "Cornet", missiles which are capable of hitting the enemy at a distance of up to 5,5 km (new versions hit already on 10 km).

Armored vehicle weight - about 16,5 tonnes, maximum speed - 90 km / h (afloat - to 14 km / h). Power reserve - 800 km. Capacity - 10 human.
