At the International Mathematical Olympiad, which this year was held in the Romanian city of Cluj-Napoca (to 59 times), Russian team of students won five awards the highest standard and one silver. The Olympiad contests; 116 teams from around the world. Excellent results of our students brought our team in the top three in the mathematical field.
This year the list of participants of the Olympiad, representing the Russian team, It included six students from different parts of Russia: Yegor Ryabov and Arthur Gerasimenko (Moscow), Vladimir Petrov and Stanislav Crimean (St. Petersburg), Marat Abdurakhmanov (Chelyabinsk), Sergei Luchinin (Kirov).
According to the Minister of Education Olga Vasilyeva, Our team of senior rightfully deserved this victory. she noted, that thanks to the strong-willed qualities, as well as the work and talent of our guys managed to get one of the three most powerful countries participating in the competition. This confirms the fact, that Russia still remains the great mathematical power.
AT 2017 year our students went to Brazil, which took only 11 team place, although there have made significant individual success: one “gold”, three “silver” and two “bronze”.
For reference: Mathematical Olympiad is held annually the international level. For the first time it was held in Romania 1959 year, and only seven countries took part in it. Over the years, the geography and the number of participating countries grew Olympiad, and over the past few years the number of countries, taking part in the competition, exceeded one hundred. Traditionally, during the adversarial trial participants have to decide in two days 6 problems of high complexity.
The first place went to Team USA. Third place – the Chinese young mathematicians. The fourth and fifth positions are located math teams of Ukraine and Thailand. Russian team was not one of the winners with 2010 of the year.
