transport breakthrough. Moscow, Seoul and Pyongyang on the verge of combining rail networks

In the media of South Korea published materials, which referred to the establishment of a tripartite group to examine the issue of transportation of cargoes from East Asia to Europe. We are talking about a group, which plans to discuss the possibility of using the Trans-Korean Railway, which allows to deliver cargoes from the ports of the Republic of Korea through North Korea to Russia, and then - in Europe.

The first phase of consultations on the issue should take place 13 July, North Korean Rajin, where the official delegation will arrive in South Korea. He will head the delegation head of the committee on the so-called northern Kazakhstan economic cooperation Son Young-Gil.

Транспортный прорыв. Москва, Сеул и Пхеньян в шаге от объединения железнодорожных сетей

Official Seoul expresses interest in using railroad, which would allow to transport goods through the territory of the DPRK. The route itself is a compound of the South Korean branch with the North Korean port of Rajin, having special status, and then with the Russian Hasan.

Here it should be noted, that last month the presidents of Russia and South Korea have signed the memorandum of association of the major Trans-Korean Railway with the Trans-Siberian Railway. The total cost of the project is about 3,5 billion, while in Seoul believe, that the return on these investments may be ultra-fast due to the amount of freight, which can be transported through the DPRK and Russia to Europe and back.

Recall, that this is not the first attempt to unite the Trans-Siberian Railway with the Trans-Korean Railway, but above all these attempts rested on the various obstacles, primarily military-political.
