The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has decided to increase the Ukrainian military contingent in Afghanistan. In the near future to eleven Ukrainian servicemen have added eighteen, Ukrainian media write.
Chairman of the Ukrainian mission to NATO Vadim Pristayko commented on this decision, stated, that the decision to increase the Ukrainian military contingent in the NATO mission in Afghanistan is the truth. he reported, that soon Poroshenko will participate in a meeting of all members of the operation “Strong support” and confirm the undertaken obligations by Ukraine in support of coalition forces in Afghanistan.
Pristayko explained, that the quota of participation of Ukrainian troops in operations in Afghanistan have long been defined and is not more than 35 military. Today in Afghanistan there are eleven Ukrainian military, which are located in different provinces and different foreign contingents, that does not prevent them to perform their duty to the allied NATO countries. With the increase in the number of troops APU another eighteen, according Pristayko, significantly increase assistance to Ukraine coalition forces in the fight against terrorist groups.
Recall, that currently in Afghanistan as part of NATO's mission “Strong support” is about 16 thousands of soldiers 39 nations.
