AT-T – heavy artillery tractor

Kharkiv Locomotive Plant (KhPZ) during World War II he worked on the creation of artillery tractors on the basis of the T-34. The result works are machines AT-42 and AT-45. After the war ended, the Soviet Army entered a completely new heavy artillery systems, which required the respective tractors. On KhPZ again turned work. FROM 1946 g. began production of the tank T-54, and on its basis the designers have developed a new tractor, serial which began with the release of 1953 g. This machine received index AT-T (heavy artillery tractor) and soon won recognition, as evidenced by its release in the 50-ies. in large quantities and various modifications.

Serial production of the AT-T continued to 1979 g. Direct assignment of AT-T – towed artillery systems, high and extra high power. The layout of the truck was not extremely difficult: in front of the - closed for cabin crew, under the hood, in front of the car - diesel engine. Also housed in the front of the manual Manual Transmission, disc clutches and planetary rotation mechanisms. Front wheel track mover was leading. Five on each side mounted road wheels of large diameter with rubber tires. On the machine is a mechanical winch with traction rollers. The maximum force on the rope was 20 Ltd. kgf. The base of this tractor has become the starting point for a family of engineering machines, such as e.g. trench machine BTM, puteprokladchik BAT, of excavation machine MDK-2, which hitherto are in engineering units armament.
