The Chinese army is one of the few, where it is still used jet backpack flamethrowers, writes the Russian newspaper.
As previously reported by the Chinese media, in the early 1950s, the Soviet Union delivered to China the newest while infantry flamethrowers LPO-50. Already in 1955 , the Chinese army use them during the battle with the Kuomintang troops on the island Itszyanshan. According to media reports, using these flamethrowers were destroyed 45 enemy firing points.
Soon LPO-50 started to produce in China with the designation "Type-58".
Full mass of the system - 23 kg, designed for 3 shots in a row (burned more 10 liters combustible mixture, Distributed on three cylinders). The effective range of direct fire - up 50 m (Mounted on path distance increases to 79 m).
Later, Chinese engineers have improved flamethrower, designating it "Team 74". Updated became easier system 3 kg. From the base model it is also distinguished by higher performance losses and a greater range of applications. Besides, cooldown has been reduced from 10 to 4 minutes.
The Chinese army, there are special flamethrower units, whose task is to support motorized infantry during the fighting.
