In Ukraine, announced the emergence of a new kind of troops. Currently, the Ministry of Defense is considering the possibility of giving the status of a separate type of territorial defense forces, which are now included in a part of the Army APU.
It should be recalled, that the troops of territorial defense began to create in 2014 , with the Ukrainian military enlistment offices of the territorial principle in the framework regions, then they were reorganized into separate battalions and brigades are summarized in. Basically equipped reservists, which make up the bulk of the troops and called upon in case of need. The main tasks of the troops had been declared in the protection of the state border, protection of strategic and critical facilities and provision of public authorities. Ideological inspirer and creator of the troops of territorial defense is Alexander Turchinov, at 2014 , the Acting President of Ukraine.
According to the documents, of the territorial defense team consists of up to eight battalions of territorial, company fire support, company anti-subversive struggle, mortar unit and the rear unit.
According to the plans of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, at the beginning of summer 2018 year will be rolled out to the whole 119th Brigade of the territorial defense in the Chernihiv region.
Currently APU consists of three species and two separate genera: Ground forces, air force, Navy, Air assault troops and special forces operations, as well as structures that have the rights of certain types of: Chief management of operational support, weapons, rear (on the basis of the last two forms Command Forces Logistics).
