Russian Investigative Committee today opened a criminal case against an American journalist Tom Rogan. This man on the eve of the publication of The Washington Examiner published an article, which contained open calls for bombing of a bridge across the Kerch Strait. Statement by the official representative of the TFR Svetlana Petrenko:
15 May 2018 in the Russian Federation was officially opened vehicular traffic on the Crimean bridge, connecting the Crimean and Taman Peninsula. This event was widely covered by the media, including foreign media.
In particular, US citizen Tom Rogan has published on its website an article entitled «Ukraine should blow up Putin's Crimea bridge» (Ukraine needs to blow up the bridge Crimea Putin), which was also posted on the «Washington Examiner» web-site edition of the weekly magazine, urging Ukraine implement undermining Crimean bridge by applying bombing.
As suggested by consequence, in this article, Tom Rogan, whether publicly posted on the Internet, elements essential to public calls to terrorist activity on the territory of the Russian Federation, having the purpose to destabilize the Russian Federation government activities and the impact on their decision-making, that is, the crime was committed, provided for by Article. 205 Criminal Code.
At present, the result is assigned a complex psychological and linguistic expertise, carry out other investigative actions, to establish all the circumstances of the crime.
Simultaneously, pre-investigation checks in respect of a weekly online magazine editor «Washington Examiner» the fact of publication of the said Article Tom Rogan.
Notably, that by overtly extremist calls man, calling himself a journalist very skeptical even in Ukraine. Many Ukrainian experts noted, that the material in the US media looked like a blatant provocation.
