The outgoing US administration announced the expansion of the list of Russian individuals and companies, falling under “restrictive measures”, in simple terms, sanctions.
In the new expanded list, the seventh number is businessman Yevgeny Prigozhin. As stated in the message on the US Treasury website, “Prigogine has extensive business relations with the Russian Ministry of Defense. Companies associated with this businessman signed contracts for the construction of a military base near the Russian border with Ukraine.”.
Leading American publication Wall Street Journal, at material dedicated to Yevgeny Prigozhin, calls him the ideological inspirer and organizer of private military companies (PMC), leading hostilities in Ukraine and Syria.
“According to the official, close to the Russian Ministry of Defense, and Russian military expert Ivan Konovalov, one of the PMCs was created near the Molkino farm in the Krasnodar Territory near the border with Ukraine. This group, disbanded at the end 2015 of the year, possessed a large number of T-90 battle tanks, as well as howitzers and grenade launchers”, - writes the Wall Street Journal.
