RUSSIA CREATED UNDERWATER TABLET FOR SPECIAL FORCES

The device works as a navigator and allows commanders to control the biometric indicators of soldiers
The Ministry of Defense equipped special forces divers with unique waterproof tablets, which not only display data on the navigation situation, showing the location of each fighter on the underwater map, but also display data on the respiratory rate and heartbeat of each of them. Latest product "Underwater Diver's Panel" (PPV), developed by the central research institute "Kurs", significantly improves the safety of underwater operations, warning in advance about possible problems.

PPV is a lightweight aluminum block slightly less long 30 cm and thickness 10 cm, equipped with a 16 cm screen. The device can work up to seven hours without recharging, however, its weight does not exceed 5 kg. Metal walls allow it to remain operational at a depth of more than 80 m. The device will be useful not only for reconnaissance and sabotage groups, but also to engineers, carrying out deep-sea work in hard suits.
— At the moment, work on the product has been completed - its characteristics, laid down at the development stage, fully confirmed, — the press service of the Central Research Institute told Izvestia. — Currently, the “Underwater Diver Panel” is already supplied to a number of special forces.

The device display is divided into two parts - the right one displays pressure, fighters' heart rate and breathing rate, received from sensors on wetsuits. PPV displays health indicators of up to four divers simultaneously. If the specified standards are violated, the device sends a signal to the operator.

The left side of the PPV display is responsible for the navigation of the underwater group - data from a portable sonar and GPS receiver is displayed on it, which, using the built-in computing unit, are combined into a single card. On it in radius 500 all fighters of the reconnaissance group are marked with dots, the depth of their immersion and the speed of movement are displayed.

According to military historian Dmitry Boltenkova, combat swimmers, unlike ordinary divers, operate in difficult hydrographic conditions, mostly at night, when there is minimal visibility in the water.
— One of the main problems of combat swimmers is to reach a specific point accurately and at a given time., - says Boltenkov. — Unlike land, there are no landmarks underwater. At the same time, underwater special forces operate primarily in closed-circuit breathing apparatus. They do not unmask combat swimmers with bubbles, but the peculiarities of their design can lead to loss of consciousness of a fighter and his death from an excess of carbon dioxide. therefore, when a reconnaissance group secretly approaches an object, you not only have to stay on course, but also not to lose fighters due to problems with breathing apparatus.

The first such tablets began to enter service with special forces in developed countries several years ago.. So far, such products are used en masse only by the French special forces of the “Hubert group”, American "seals" from the "Sixth Team", German swimmers from the Navy special operations teams and the British from the “Special Boat Service”.
